The Alkimos Aquatic and Recreation Centre (AARC)

The Alkimos Aquatic and Recreation Centre has been many years in the making, and Tracey Roberts has been a strong advocate for the project throughout its development. As Mayor of the City of Wanneroo, Tracey moved a motion in 2018 to bring forward the delivery of an aquatic facility for the northern corridor and continued advocating for the project, including directly seeking additional Commonwealth funding in 2020.

In 2022, while contesting the federal seat of Pearce, Tracey secured a $25 million towards the centre, which was subsequently funded through the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program. A further $5 million was also secured via the Federal Government's Female Facilities and Water Safety Stream.  As the Federal Member for Pearce, Tracey has continued to champion the project as it moved through design and construction.

The new centre represents a significant investment in the future of our rapidly growing northern suburbs and will provide local families with greater access to swimming, recreation, fitness and community facilities closer to home. It will also create new opportunities for local sporting clubs, schools, seniors and community groups to participate in activities and programs within their own community.

As the centre approaches opening, Tracey remains committed to ensuring local residents are kept informed, heard and involved in shaping how this important community facility is used.
